About DR. Megan Berry Swadell, DACM, L.ac.
Doctor Megan Berry Swadell, DACM, L.Ac. is both a California and NCCAOM Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist in the beautiful town of San Carlos, California. Her previous career was centered around cancer research, where she worked at a number of esteemed biotechnology companies, including Genentech, as a Research Associate in Small Molecule Translational Oncology. Megan earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from UC Davis, a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science, and is a lover of all things related to health and physiology. She is a medical detective who takes great pleasure in biohacking the body and specializes in marrying the mysticism of Chinese Medicine with modern-day science, noting each can be found hidden within the other. Megan takes great interest in tackling orthopedic ailments, women’s health and fertility challenges, internal medicine mysteries, and beautifying the body through cosmetic acupuncture. A consummate learner, her thirst for knowledge is what continues to deliver results for her patients and keeps her love of Chinese Medicine alive.
Megan utilizes the most current, heavily-researched modalities when treating complex pain and internal medicine patients, and is constantly building upon her training through continuing education focused on electroacupuncture medicine, trigger/motor point therapy (i.e. “dry needling”), and current applications of ancient herbal formulas designed to treat modern day ailments such as Fibromyalgia, mold exposure, latent viral illnesses, and gut dysbiosis. She is the proud mother of an adored son who ultimately came to be through the valiant efforts of IVF, Chinese Medicine, and Gestational Surrogacy. The quest to meet her son is what introduced her to the magic of acupuncture, and she now serves many of her patients as an “IVF doula” while increasing their odds of successful conception through the help of Chinese Medicine.

Unified by a common goal to work together for better health
My vision is to bring acupuncture and herbal medicine to the forefront of the public’s awareness, so they may seek it out as a first-line defense, rather than as a last resort. My goal is to teach members of my community the tenets of Traditional Chinese Medicine and arm them with the knowledge to care for themselves and their families in a holistic, functional manner that promotes year-round wellness of body, mind, and spirit.
